Why didn't you vote?
I count more people on Planet Fedora then we had people vote in the elections. We've got over a thousand packagers, but only around 300 voted in FESCo? My question is why? My other question is; How can we get you to vote next time?

I'm a newbie and I've arrived with the election already running. I think I'll wait to next election.

In fact I don't know if I can vote :)

Anyway, your questions are quite interesting. I would had expected more participation.

know the opinions

I didn't vote because I want to give my vote after the opinions and goals of the candidates and not for names I heard some times on mailing list, irc. I tried reading the townhall logs but stopped after some time because it was to unordered and to much.

I wish some more concentrated information about the candidates and not a irc log for which I need 3 hours to read.

With all the buzz in the planet, I certainly expected many more to vote! I voted, and I'm proud :D I don't really know what we can do to get more people voting. It's not even hard to vote!

The FESCo members are not that visible as they should be, so I'd say that people doesn't care when they don't see result. On the other hand 1/3rd of all packagers .. that's no that bad.

From what I knew of the candidates, I could have lived with pretty much any of them winning, so I didn't have enough motivation to wade through the giant pile of material to figure out which ones I would (slightly) prefer.

Voting

A couple things come to mind.
1. The voting method feels very odd to me.
2. To vote, I actually had to click on a link that said 'more info' not 'vote'. That felt like an awkward user experience.
3. The same people (mostly) run for the board and for FESCO. It feels redundant.
4. We need a clear definition of what the board does and what FESCO does. If we indeed have that, we need it to feature it on the election page. (If we have that, I just apparently can't read.)

Essentially, FESCo is responsible for managing the development of the Fedora operating system/platform itself. Anything outside that sphere is the province of the Board; FESCo is delegated their responsibilities by the Board, and reports to the Board.

Why would people vote for total stangers they never heard about?

same group of people

We have elections all the time, either for picking a pointless name for a release or for choosing from among the [roughly] same group of people to keep doing what they're already doing. I have enough other stuff to keep me busy.

You want us to vote?

1. Announce the candidates
2. They should make a campaign on their blog site, tell us who they are, why we should vote for them ...
3. Simplify teh access to the vote and the voting system as well
4. ...

Uhh..

We did all of the things you mentioned, and the voting system is about as simple to access as I can imagine. The only complaint I've heard was that a "more information" link should have been changed to "vote" though I haven't heard anyone say that it prevented them from voting.
